The Tarot is more than a pack of cards. The tarot card deck is made of 78 cards which combine to form the arcana. There are the major arcana and the minor arcana. the minor arcana are split into four elements of air, fire, water, and earth.

The minor Arcana are also divided into swords, wands, cups and coins. the minor Arcana usually explain the stage of manifestation that an idea or event is in.Minor Arcana are used to interpret the practical issues within a person's life. The cards are used to answer the questions related to the mundane issues that comprise the day to day problems.

There are 22 major arcana cards. Also known as Trumps, these cards indicate life's significant issues. These are the most important cards for the reading.

The cards in the tarot deck are pulled by the medium and laid into different formations or spreads to answer specific questions. The basic spread for a tarot card reading will consist of the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. Arcana is a word derived from the Latin phrase arcanum which basically means a profound secret. Once the cards are laid then the reading can be interpreted.

Once the cards have been laid out in their spread then the medium or psychioc will interpret the reading for the client.
